China: Culture Street Event Promoting EU-China Cooperation

April 30, 2024

The European Union (EU)-China Partnership Facility, implemented by GOPA Worldwide Consultants,  recently organised the “European Culture Street 2024” event in Guangzhou, Southern China, on 20 April 2024. More than 10,000 visitors attended the one-day public diplomacy outreach event to foster cultural exchange and to showcase the rich cultural, language and traditions of EU member states.

Booths representing the 27 member states offered attendees the opportunity to explore various food, drinks, souvenirs, art and other cultural heritage experiences. Additionally, cultural performances, interactive games, quizzes, and an event photo booth entertained visitors throughout the day. More than 120 volunteers from Guangzhou high schools supported the event, which included several social media influencers sharing their visit virally online.

The event is part of ongoing project activities of the EU-China Partnership Facility, a project commissioned by the EU under the Foreign Partnership Instrument. The project’s aim is to reinforce EU-China cooperation on a wide range of issues of global relevance while increasing awareness of EU policies in China. GOPA Worldwide's Government and Economic Development team is supporting the Delegation of the European Union to China in implementing the EU-China Partnership Facility project.

The “European Culture Street 2024” event included notable dignitaries, with the Ambassador of the EU to China and the Consul General of Belgium in Guangzhou taking part. A ribbon-cutting ceremony also included together diplomats of EU member states and representatives of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou City.
