July 19, 2024

GOPA Worldwide Consultants’ Health and Social Development (HSD) Expert and Backstopping Team has recently been in Maseru, Lesotho to kick off the Millennium Challenge Account Health System Strengthening Technical Assistance (MCA-HSS-TA) with MCA Lesotho II. This procurement falls within the HSS Project under the Health and Horticulture Compact, funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

The overall aim of the HSS Project is to improve health outcomes through strengthening Lesotho’s PHC system. It is anticipated that this support will assist the Government of Lesotho to provide high quality PHC services, improved clinical services and the integration of GBV services – as well as improve management and support services to deliver PHC, primarily at the district level.

The role of GOPA’s HSD team as the MCA-HSS-TA contractor, is to work in direct collaboration with MCA Lesotho II to ensure the quality of deliverables from the other 5 procurements under the HSS Project, including:

  • Health System Strengthening
  • Primary Health Care and Counter-Gender-Based-Violence Support Contractor
  • Digital Health Contractor
  • Information Communication and Technology Support and Maintenance Contractor
  • Health Communications Services Provision Contractor
  • Health Data and Innovation Hub.

Through GOPA’s Key Expert Team, consisting of a PHC/HSS Expert, Digital Health Expert, Public Financial Management Expert and a countering Gender-Based-Violence Expert alongside local subcontractors Partners in Health Lesotho, the Clinton Health Access Initiative and ICAP, quality assurance support will be provided to MCA Lesotho II.
