EU Education Outreach Project Achieves Milestones, Prepares for Next Phase in Strengthening Transatlantic Ties

October 28, 2024

The first phase of the “EU Education Outreach Project in North America”, funded by the European Union and overseen by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States, ran from 2022 to 2024. Through a consortium including GOPA Worldwide ConsultantsGOPA PACEThe German Marshall Fund of the U.S., and W!SE, the project successfully delivered eight key activities, despite early challenges and delays. These activities included the Euro Challenge and Schuman Challenge Competitions, the EU-US Young Leaders Seminar, and EU study visits for U.S. Gilman Scholars, among others.

Throughout the three years, the consortium developed strong partnerships with organisations like the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Commission in Belgium, and U.S. Jean-Monnet Centres for Excellence. Despite the impact of COVID-19 and rising travel costs, all targets and indicators were met, with participant satisfaction levels exceeding expectations. The second phase begins (October 2024–October 2027), with the consortium aiming to build on these successes and further strengthen transatlantic educational ties.
