Inke Fabian de Barreto drives strategic global market opportunities for GOPA Group. Focused on creating synergies between different sectors and enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of the Group's activities worldwide, Inke is the focal point for the Group’s business in the US and supports GOPA Group US Inc. from the Group’s headquarters (HQ) in Europe.
Inke has worked with GOPA Group for over 20 years and has dedicated her career to bringing the highest quality and best value for money to people and communities around the world.
She joined EPOS Health Management in 2001, the German market leader in donor-financed health care consulting and a subsidiary of GOPA Group. At EPOS, Inke held key management positions where she was instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of health and social development projects worldwide. She managed large portfolios in the areas of health sector reform, health service delivery, women and community health as well as health infrastructure in Africa, the MENA region, and Central Asia as well as in fragile countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen. From 2014 to 2020, Inke served as Managing Director of EPOS and led the company in the merger into GOPA Worldwide Consultants.
Inke has built an extensive network and a strong reputation in the international development community. She has worked with the European Union; the German bilateral donors GIZ and KfW; the Asian Development Bank and the French development agency, Agence Française de Développement; as well as with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Driven by a desire to optimize business value and sustainable impact, Inke has focused on embedding sustainability throughout GOPA Group’s work. This includes working to standardize processes and consistently building and enhancing synergies between technical fields and competencies at headquarters and GOPA’s many local offices, but also enhancing collaboration on cross-sectoral topics, including in the area of climate change. She was instrumental in improving knowledge management within GOPA Group as well as in enhancing regional approaches and the development of local structures.
Inke specialized in political science at universities in Germany, France, and Brazil and spent a post-graduate year at the German Institute for Development and Sustainability. She is a Member of the Steering Committee of the Global Health Hub Germany and Chairwoman of the Working Group Global Health, German Health Alliance. She is passionate about working towards ensuring good health and well-being for all.
