Private Sector Development Programme: Component 2: Resource and Energy Efficiency in the Food Industry

Major activities addressing a green economy: In this project AFC supported the Chamber of Food Industries (CFI) and the Food Technology Centre (FTC) in providing advice to the food industry in how to make more efficient use of water, energy and chemicals. The beneficiary companies in the food value chain thus reduced their energy consumption by 3% to 35%. Water consumption was reduced between 18% and 50% and the use of chemicals in two cases even by 100%.
