Enhancing Regional Integration: East African Community Conference in Nairobi Fuels Strategic Growth in Distribution Sector
Nairobi recently welcomed industry leaders and stakeholders for the Peer-to-Peer Learning Conference, held under the theme "Leveraging Integration: Strategies for a Dynamic Distribution Sector in the East African Community (EAC)." The conference took place on August 1-2, 2024, and brought together a myriad of voices to collaboratively tackle the region's distribution-related challenges.
With a clear objective to identify and overcome obstacles in the EAC's distribution sector, the event also focused on devising growth strategies for the regional private sector. Key discussions revolved around regulatory challenges, growth measures, and the creation of a comprehensive action plan to drive the sector's dynamic evolution.
Through peer learning dynamics, a facilitated knowledge exchange is being facilitated among countries with successful reforms and foreign entities with advanced distribution practices, emphasising inventory management, skill enhancement, and local supplier integration. The conference inaugurates the Common Market Protocol work stream of the EU-EAC CORE programme, aligning with broader regional integration goals.
The event brings together public and private sector delegations, business associations, distribution firms, e-commerce platforms, and academic institutions, marking a significant step in promoting the EU-EAC CORE programme and regional integration.
