Empowering Korean Youth Through EU and RoK Climate Partnership
The EU-RoK Green Partnership Programme we are implementing is off to a strong start! The EU is supporting the 14th University Student Climate Academy, empowering Korean youth as future Climate Ambassadors.
Hosted by the Korean National Assembly Forum on Climate Change, the academy features a 9-day intensive training course, including a mock COP29 of the UNFCCC, expert-led lectures, and field trips. Outstanding students will have the exclusive opportunity to attend #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November.
Participants will:
- gain insight into EU strategies towards climate neutrality, particularly the European #GreenDeal.
- have the chance to interview EU officials during a field trip to the EU Delegation.
- benefit from EU support in their participation at COP29.
H.E. Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, Maria Castillo Fernandez, emphasised the crucial need to empower youth in climate action:
"We repeatedly say that your generation will be most affected by climate change and that you should stand at the very core of the climate dialogues. Your passion, creativity, and determination are the catalyst we need to build a sustainable and resilient future.”
In collaboration with our project partner, adelphi, our Seoul-based experts are working closely with the EU Delegation to ensure the success of this EU-funded Green Partnership Programme, supported by our backstopping team.
