Major activities addressing a green economy: Following a market–driven approach, the RED programme focused on the development of selected value-chains and clusters with potential for inclusive growth, the creation of improved framework conditions for pro-poor market development and the improvement of market access for small and medium –sized enterprises and producer organisations. In this context a consortium led by GOPA supported the development of chain upgrading strategies for selected value chains; in some VC, the upgrading strategy included the promotion of energy efficiency. Moreover social, ecological and product quality standards were introduced.
