Major activities addressing a green economy: Taking into consideration the Indian climate, energy-efficient constructions, such as roof protection with a reflective coating, can significantly decrease the use of energy, e.g. for air-conditioning. A feasibility study led by AFC revealed that energy-efficient housing is not only an environmentally friendly investment opportunity but also economically viable. Taking the example of medium-cost high-rise apartments, the accumulated savings resulting from energy-efficiency usually compensate for the initial incremental costs within less than six years.
